Chiropractic Adjustments / Manipulation

After identifying which spinal joints have lost their normal motion and control, a specific manual thrust is administered to stimulate the control centres of your spinal cord and nervous system to help improve their function and allow you to maintain your own alignment better.

Extensive research studies have shown spinal manipulation to be very safe and effective treatment option for musculoskeletal injuries.
Low Force Techniques

Some of our patients conditions may require low force techniques, while some patients prefer this option. For this reason we utilize a wide range of gentle, yet effective techniques. With all these techniques, you will not hear or feel the cavitations (cracking/popping sounds) as with spinal manipulation.

  • Impulse Adjusting and Activator Methods®- These systems of spinal evaluation combined with a handheld adjusting instrument that delivers a consistent, low-force thrust.

  • Terminal Point Table (Drop Table) - Individualised cushions or "drop pieces" located along the table surface support each area of your spine. A very gentle thrust is delivered reducing the amount of energy needed to move a specific spinal segment

  • Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) - helps normalize the relationship between the pelvis and the head, using pelvic blocks and gravity to make the necessary correction.
Soft Tissue & Muscle Releases Techniques

At Proactive Spine & Sports Medicine we use a number of dynamic, gentle and effective soft tissue techniques used to target muscles, tendons and ligaments. This will help address muscle tightness and imbalances to help reduce pain, improve posture and prevent injury reoccurance.

Spinal Stabilization & Rehabilitation Exercises

Using our wealth of experience in the sport and fitness industry combined with latest research, personalised exercises are prescribed to help you amplify and maintain the improvements that we have made. This will prevent re-injury by improving your mobility, stability and performance.
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilisation (IASTM)

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilisation or Simply IASTM is a new range of tool which enables chiropractors to efficiently locate and treat individuals diagnosed with soft tissue dysfunction, and to assist in effective treatment of adhesion's and scarring brought on by surgeries, injuries, and overuse of muscles.
IASTM is performed with ergonomically designed instruments that detect and treat fascial restrictions, encourage rapid localisation and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis, chronic inflammation, or degeneration.

Dry Needling

Dry Needling involves introducing fine, sterile acupuncture needles into trigger points, which are hyperirritable spots within a muscle. Trigger points are tender on compression and can give rise to distinctive referred pain.

Trigger point dry needling directly treats the neuromuscular system affecting muscle tightness, joint mobility, and symptoms of pain and irritation. Its objective is to permanently reduce muscle pain and dysfunction, and to stimulate a healing response in that tissue and reduce the biomechanical stress of the muscle treated.

SCENAR

SCENAR works by stimulating the brain with a constantly varying signal that causes it to instruct the nervous system to generate Neuropeptides, the key biochemicals needed by your body to heal itself. Neuropeptides may be considered as our body's own internal pharmacy. In many cases of bodily imbalance or injury, the brain tends to become habituated to a disease or injury rather than aggressively generating the correct neuropeptides and electrical signals needed to effect a complete recovery.

The communication system between the brain and the affected body part can break down and this gradually becomes accepted by the brain as being "Normal". Because of its unique, computer controlled biofeedback capabilities and ability to stimulate the Neuropeptide generating C – Fibers of the nervous system, the SCENAR constantly achieves results that amaze people all over the world.
Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave Therapy, also known as Extra Corporeal ShockWave Therapy (ESWT), is a highly effective treatment option to patients suffering from a range of chronic tendon conditions that are notoriously difficult to resolve such as plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, and achilles tendinopathy.

The basic principles behind shock wave therapy are the high pressured acoustic shock waves that travel through the skin to breakdown calcified tissue and stimulate tissue repair and pain relief.

Proactive Spine & Sports Medicine is pleased to be one of the very few clinics in the Macarthur region to have access to this latest treatment option.

Kinesiology Tape / ROCKTAPE
Kinesiology Tape works by improving our proprioception, or our bodies movement awareness, which can both decrease pain and improve the way we move.
The main physical benefits of kinesiology tape include:
  • Pain Relief
  • Reduced Swelling and Inflammation
  • Accelerated Recovery from Bruises and Contusions
  • Supports Injured Muscles and Joints without Restricting Range of Motion
  • Prevents and/or Relieves Muscle Spasms and Cramping
