What is Clinical Pilates
Pilates is a systemized exercise form with an emphasis on concentration, effective and graceful movements, and correct posture all to promote pain free living.
It is designed to strengthen muscles that support and stabilise the spine in everyday movements. Research has found that weakness in specific muscle groups such as the multifidus, transverse abdominus and pelvic floor are a significant contributor to ongoing back pain.
Our commitment at Proactive Spine & Sports Medicine is to not just get you out of pain, but stop the pain from coming back. We believe a course of Pilates is one of the best ways to aid in this.
Benefits of Pilates
• Treatment for low back pain
• Improve posture and appearance
• Increase flexibility
• Stronger abdominals to support and move your spine
• Safe for rehabilitating all injuries
• Structured rehab care for severe spinal conditions (disc herniation etc)
• Safe Pre and Post Natal Care
This type of class structure is by far the most popular choice for Pilates classes in Australia, and for good reason.
Semi Private Pilates classes are conducted in a group setting with a maximum of 4 participants all working on individualised programs. The result is specific Pilates exercises to meet your needs, without the cost of a private session.
We recommend at least one session a week (2-3 is ideal) and offer clients the choice to arrange an ongoing class time.
If you have never done Pilates before, or you have a serious injury or health concern which may require your instructors undivided attention, we recommend beginning with a series of Private classes. The same individualised programming benefits as the semi-private classes but you are more engaged with the instructor which can be more beneficial to new students or those who have a more serious injury or condition.
An added benefit to private instruction is the opportunity to receive massage or stretch therapy from your instructor.
